Stefany Stempien and Kevin Vinokur are both 90s babies, born in 1993. They attended the same college, Binghamton University, from 2011 to 2015, where they both majored in pre-med. Despite being in the same place at the same time - their paths never crossed. Today, they are both ER doctors, but their shared story did not begin until 2021 when Stefany moved to Brooklyn to join the Emergency Medicine residency program at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and met Kevin, her co-resident.

Kevin, a Brooklyn native from Coney Island, was raised in the bustling heart of NYC. Stefany is from Buffalo, NY and grew up in East Amherst, a suburb of the Queen City. When Stefany started her first year as an EM resident, Kevin was a third-year chief EM resident. Stefany always saw Kevin as a handsome, charming, witty, and incredbily smart coworker and friend. When Kevin met Stefany he thought she was cute, intelligent, outgoing, and the best part of any event he was at. Unfortunately, both of their dating lives were preoccupied and the timing wasn’t right for them to start their relationship.

After Kevin graduated from residency, he stayed on at the same hospital for another year as the Medical Education fellow, later becoming an Attending physician. Throughout those years, as Stefany continued her residency, the two shared countless shifts, laughs, and outings with friends — from trivia nights and birthday parties to brunches and post-shift drinks. Slowly, they began to know each other more deeply and their friendship and admiration for each other continued to grow.

Midway through Stefany’s third year of residency, the timing finally aligned for them to express their feelings for each other. During a night out with friends, Kevin and Stefany found themselves sharing private conversations, dances, and late-night talks. On New Year's Eve, Stefany received her first flirty text from Kevin, saying, “You’re great btw ❤️”. Stefany then suggested Kevin host a watch party for the highly anticipated Bills vs. Dolphins game, and Kevin happily agreed. On January 7th, 2024, during that game, they expressed their feelings and shared their first kiss, sealing their fate together forever.

From that night on, Stefany and Kevin have been inseparable. Almost immediately, their lives seamlessly integrated. Kevin joined the Bills Mafia and could be found willingly sporting the Bills gear that Stefany was quick to buy him. Despite Kevin's modern apartment in the hip neighborhood of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, he quickly found a happier home in Stefany’s apartment, which was just a 10-minute walk from their hospital in Park Slope, and home to her beloved 16-year-old cat, Cosmo, who also fell in love with Kevin.

Their calendar soon filled with date nights, game nights, movie nights, comedy shows, live audience tapings, DJ sets, and getaways together. Before they knew it, they were deeply in love and planning their lives together.

Today, Stefany and Kevin share the apartment together in Park Slope with Cosmo, who couldn’t be happier to have the extra attention from his cat dad. Stefany stayed at the same hospital as well, now the Administration fellow, where Kevin still works. They are eagerly planning their wedding, their honeymoon, and their future - one that will continue to be filled with date nights, game nights, and love.
